I am a first-generation immigrant reporter covering education and school systems, with a focus on equity.
I am originally from India and moved to the U.S. in 2021 to pursue a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Southern California.
Currently, I work as an education reporter at nonprofit newsroom Pittsburgh’s Public Source, where I report on the 43 school districts in Allegheny County. My work includes data-driven investigations into school suspensions, special education litigation, school closures and finances.
I view journalism as a privilege because it allows me to meet people I wouldn’t have otherwise met. As an immigrant, these experiences are immensely special to me. I am interested in community-centered storytelling that meets at the intersection of culture, education and policy.
My work has appeared in publications including The Associated Press, The Hechinger Report, The Los Angeles Times, The L.A. Review of Books and The Caravan.
